Duke University standout freshman Elizabeth Williams has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Rookie of the Week on Monday, after leading the seventh-ranked Blue Devils (12-2, 3-0 ACC) to three league wins this past week.

The honor for Williams is the fourth of the season, which is the third-most by a Blue Devil in school history.

Williams helped lead the Blue Devils to wins over Virginia (77-66), Wake Forest (76-58) and N.C. State (83-59).

For the week, she averaged 11.7 points, 10.0 rebounds, 7.0 blocks, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals for the Blue Devils.

Williams was also named the College Sports Madness ACC Player of the Week on Monday for her efforts.

Low: Chloe Wells to Miss Remainder of the 2011-12 Season

Blue Devil sophomore Chloe Wells will not be enrolled at Duke University for the spring 2012 semester due to violation of university policy, as announced on Tuesday.

A native of Colton, Calif., Wells had started the first 10 games for the Blue Devils averaging 10.4 points, 4.0 assists, 3.6 steals and 2.1 rebounds.  The 5-7 guard scored double-figures in eight of the 10 contests she played in.

“We love Chloe and she is a valuable member of the Duke women’s basketball family,” said head coach Joanne P. McCallie.  “I look forward to her returning to full eligibility for the 2012-13 campaign.”

Next up: The Blue Devils will next host Florida State on Friday, Jan. 13 at 7:00 p.m., in Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Tickets are available for the contest and it can also be seen live on RSN-TV.
