| Duke Blue Devils guard Chelsea Gray scored her 1000th point recently - Orin Day, DWHoops.com |
Just as things were right on track, the fifth-ranked Duke Blue Devils train hit a major nick in the rails on Sunday.
After winning their their 37th straight ACC home contest to improve to 24-1 overall and 14-0 in league action with an 81-70 win over the the Demon Deacons at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, N.C., they lost guard Chelsea Gray for the remainder of the season with a dislocated knee.
After being recognized for scoring her 1000th point in a Blue Devils uniform before the game, the junior from Manteca, Calif. jumped for a rebound at the 8:01 mark of the first half and landed awkwardly while contesting for the ball with a Deamon Deacons player.
She managed to walk off the floor on crutches and sat on the team bench with her knee and leg immobilized in a brace for the remainder of the game while watching her team win its ACC-leading 37th consecutive game over a league opponent at home in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Coincidentally, the location of Gray's injury was only five to eight feet away from the spot where teammate Rich Jackson suffered a season-ending injury a year earlier against the Virginia Tech Hokies, during the teams' annual Pink Play4Kay game as well.
A truly tough loss for the Blue Devils and a painful and unfortunate injury to one of the best point guards in the country.

| What the view will look like once NHL training camps start - Peter Koutroumpis, PKS Consulting LLC |

Wow!
What a morning Saturday has brought with the upcoming and highly anticipated Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) matchup in men's basketball as the #20 NC State Wolfpack hosts the #1 Duke Blue Devils at PNC Arena in Raleigh at Noon.
Tweets have been flying from Raleigh all morning in anticipation of this one.
In the meantime, the National Hockey League Players' Association (NHLPA) has completed its vote as of 8 a.m. to ratify the new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) that the NHL owners unanimously ratified earlier in the week.
With a vote ratifying the CBA from the NHLPA, all that is required for a new NHL season to begin is for a Memorandum of Understanding to be signed by both parties.
All this is expected to take place sometime Saturday.
Once that happens, the league will release the much anticipated playing schedule and training camps around the league will begin as early as Sunday - including in Raleigh.
In the meantime, PNC Arena is ready to host the grudge match between the ACC's preseason #1 and the current #1 in NCAA men's college basketball.
Have a great Saturday!
