Hardwood hits The fifth-ranked Duke Blue Devils (26-1, 16-0) continued to roll along, beating two ranked opponents (No. 24 Florida State, No. 9 Maryland) following the loss of their top point guard Chelsea Gray, and clinched their fourth consecutive ACC regular season title.
Across Tobacco Road, the No. 15 North Carolina Tar Heels (25-4, 13-3) overtook the NC State Wolfpack during its annual Play4Kay game, and now rest tied for second place in the ACC with the Terrapins.
Dump n' chase
The Carolina Hurricanes are dealing with major lineup adjustments due to injuries while trying to maintain a hold on first place in the NHL's Southeast Division; most recently splitting a two-game road stint beating the New York Islanders 4-2 on Sunday, but losing 3-0 to the Washington Capitals on Tuesday.
Quick sticks
The No. 19 Duke Blue Devils (2-3) continue to struggle early in the season, losing on the road to Penn and must now prepare to host the top-ranked Maryland Terrapins on Saturday.
Across the way in Chapel Hill, the No. 11 North Carolina Tar Heels (2-1) are coming off a big come-from-behind win over No. 14 Fairfield, and will travel to face the second-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish in South Bend, Ind.
Never a dull moment as the month of March approaches quickly.
